My name is Mark Lloyd, I am from Toronto, Ontario. For the past ten years, I’ve worked as a server/bartender at a number of restaurants in downtown Toronto. It has been hard to find full-time work at any one restaurant, so I have bounced around a few, currently working between 50-55 hours a week. I’ve also received my business degree at a local college while working part time. Putting some money away here and there, while gradually paying off my student loans, has allowed me to travel to various cities in North America a few times every year. Through travelling, as well as working in restaurants and bars, one thing I’ve developed a great appreciation for is beer. While I enjoy most beer, including several of the big macrobreweries, Toronto has a great selection of craft beer that I’ve enjoyed experimenting with.
Because of my love for craft beer in Toronto, one of the first things I look for when traveling to a new city is the local microbreweries. One of the most interesting things to me is the regionalism you can find in the different small-scale breweries; not only flavours, but names, labelling, packaging, and the ingredients used all tend to be unique to the culture and environment.
I’m no professional, but take a look and read about some of the great beer North America has to offer. With each post, you will find a little write-up about the beer and location that each of these small breweries, restaurants, bars, etc. have to offer.
Cheers!
